The two-day competition beginning March 13 is open to all strata of society and the most tasty 'nasi lemak' will be proclaimed as the "Nasi Lemak 1Malaysia".
The ministry's Deputy Secretary-General (Culture), Datuk Mohammed Mohd Daud said the competition will be divided into two categories, namely, Category A for contestants who are working as chefs or involved in any cooking activities, and Category B which is open to all individuals.
"Nasi lemak is listed as a national heritage food and it is hoped that this competition will be successful to further promote the 1Malaysia spirit," he told reporters here.
Mohammed said the winners will be chosen according to each category. The main prize for Category A is RM20,000 in cash while the main prize for Category B is RM10,000 in cash, adding that the winner for the Nasi Lemak 1Malaysia will be chosen from the two categories
Mohammed said participation fee for the Category A is RM1,000 while the fee for Category B is RM200.
